Day care Maalderij

0 to 4 year

Places available *

Welcome to day-care centre Maalderij, an attractive and small-scale location in the Bovenkerk neighbourhood in Amstelveen-Zuid. We provide both regular day care and day care plus, which is designed for children aged 2 to 4 who could use just that little extra help to thrive. Our groups are nice and light with a peaceful interior that inspires children to play and develop.

The eye-catcher of our day-care centre? That is, without a doubt, the huge nature garden behind the building! It’s a green world full of opportunity for play and discovery. The children can go down the slide, hide behind the bushes, race toy cars through the gravel circle and help sow seeds in the vegetable garden. Such fun for the children to eat the courgettes and radishes that they have grown by themselves several weeks later. For the babies we have a protected area in the garden, from where they can safely discover the outside world.

There’s also much going on inside. There is a workshop, an interactive exercise floor and a spacious play hall. We provide a joint activity in this hall every day for the older children. From yoga and making music to interactive reading to the children and gymnastics. Our enthusiastic and committed staff keep the children nicely on the move.

We dare say that our day care is a hidden gem, where children can grow, discover and, above all, be themselves. Will you come and take a look?

What does a day look like for us?

Babies follow a daily schedule according to their own needs

07.30
Between 7:30 and 9:15 a.m., we welcome your child and discuss how your child is doing.
09.30
After you have said goodbye to each other, we will start at the table. We sing songs, talk to children about what they are up to and discuss what we are going to do that day. We also have something small to eat and drink.
10.30
There is room for free play and activities aimed at the child’s development. This can be either inside the group or central hall or outside in the garden. Some of the activities include painting in the workshop, reading a book together or looking for tickle bugs outside with a magnifying glass.
11.30
Lunchtime! We will have lunch together with the children. This is either a cold lunch or a hot lunch. The older children help set and clear the table.
13.00
The younger children take an afternoon nap and the older children take a rest in the group. Have the older children taken a rest? Then they can go and play freely, or a fun activity is offered to them, such as gymnastics or making music.
15.00
When most children are awake, it is time to eat and drink something. After this, the children can participate in an activity focused on the child’s development or play freely.
16.00
From 4 p.m. you can pick up your child again and it’s time for the handover with the educational staff member and to go through the day. The educational staff member will particularly go into your child’s growth during the day.

Practical information

Settling in at day care

During the settling-in period, we take the time to get to know your child and you, and to let you get used to the new situation. Settling in an individual process suited to the developmental stage of children and to the specific needs and habits of the children and the parents.

Division into groups

At day care Maalderij, we have 3 vertical day-care groups and 1 day-care plus group. In the vertical groups, care is provided to children of different ages between 0 and 4 together. Our day-care plus group accommodates up to 10 children, aged 2 to 4.

About day care plus

Day care plus is designed for children aged 2 to 4 who could use just that little extra help to thrive. The plus group accommodates up to 10 children, who receive guidance from two senior educational staff members. This allows even more personal attention and gives each child space to develop at their own pace. Additionally, we have solid relationships with outside sources of assistance. We also use a daily programme to add structure to the care day.

Our goal? To help children be the best version of themselves. And to ensure that – with this extra push – they can confidently make the move to (regular) primary education.
