BSO Thula offers contemporary, anthroposophical care. Just like Vrijeschool Thula, this after-school care is housed in the building of public primary school De Dapper, close to Oosterpark in Amsterdam. Thula has its “roots in the neighborhood”; our living environment is one in which diversity naturally has a place.
The close connection to nature and the annual rhythm with its seasons and annual festivities are central. The childcare takes place in a “living room-like” atmosphere, in the school environment known to the children, next to their own class. Due to short lines between teachers and pedagogical staff, there is a continuous line in the structure of the day (“the breathing”) and with regard to the daily development of children.
BSO Thula offers a leisure offer for children with freedom of choice in participating in activities in addition to the school offer. Crafts and giving space for creativity naturally have a place in the after-school part of the day. You can play outside on one of the two school yards; the Oosterpark is “around the corner”. The playroom of the school is also available. We offer children as many real experiences as possible, also during trips on vacation days. The BSO knows – just like the school – attention to diversity. We embrace our intercultural environment through the wealth of annual festivals, fairy tales and stories that are specific to anthroposophy and actively participate in initiatives in the neighborhood.
BSO Thula has 1 group in which a maximum of 20 children are looked after each day. The pedagogical staff have an anthroposophical background or receive (extra) training in this area. They join the class at the last part of the school day and then take the children to the BSO. The cooperation with the school provides a continuous development line for the children, for example because the same themes are given attention at the BSO.
