KinderRijk social partner of the Humanitas Child Contact Centre

Humanitas has opened a Child Contact Centre (Dutch: Omgangshuis) in Amstelveen. This meeting place for children and their parents from Amstelveen and Aalsmeer is intended to support families following a divorce, when maintaining contact can be challenging.

Children up to the age of 16 can spend time with their parent, with whom they do not live, at the Child Contact Centre. They can be together in a safe, neutral and child-friendly environment. These contact visits are supervised by volunteers from Humanitas.

As a social partner, KinderRijk is pleased to be able to contribute and to provide our location on Schweitzerlaan on Saturdays. This is how we can help families in a vulnerable situation to restore or maintain contacts in a pleasant setting.

Official opening

The official opening took place on Wednesday 20 May, when councillors for youth affairs Frank Berkhout (Amstelveen) and Bart Kabout (Aalsmeer) attended the opening.

The evening started with a discussion among the persons involved. Jantien Anderiesen (board member of Humanitas Amstelland), Mariëlle de Bree (Coordinator of the Humanitas Child Contact Centre), the two councillors, and Wendy den Elzen (location manager of KinderRijk Schweitzerlaan) emphasised the many children affected by divorce and stressed the urgent need for the Child Contact Centre.

With the ribbon-cutting ceremony, child mayors Levi and Marije then officially opened the Child Contact Centre on Schweitzerlaan.
